Second day in Bangkok and already the first of many planned restaurant visits and Foodie spots we want to check out. And why not start with something "close to home" but obviously not? We were excited to visit Danish Chef Henrik Yde Andersen and his restaurant Sra Bua by Kiin-Kiin!
Sra Bua by Kiin-Kiin is by the way one of three Thai Concept Restaurants in the World run by foreign Chefs who hold a Michelin Star (the other ones are "Nahm" run by Chef David Thompson in London until 2011 - nowadays located in Bangkok and "Pok Pok" in New York run by Chef Andy Ricker). So traveling to Bangkok and Thailand made it quite an obvious decision - this was one of the Restaurants we wanted to check out! Another obvious choice was Gaggan...more about that later...
Sra Bua in Bangkok is located at the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. Kempinski's a renowned as one of the oldest hotel chains of a high standard and luxury establishments in Europe but with Hotels all around the World.
The interior of Kempinsky Bangkok is extraordinary and breathtakingly upper-class. When we paid our visit a wedding was held in the hotel and strolling through a lobby and main hall filled with people wearing their finest - and quite obviously most expensive dresses and outfits (Spoons wearing just jeans and a t-shirt and Sticks in a quiet casual dress) made us feel a little bit misplaced.
However, the very warm welcome of the waitress as we entered Sra Bua washed away all our worries - this was going to be a pleasant and relaxed restaurant experience!
And the visit lived up to our expectations! We loved every second! And actually, we were blown off the chair more than once. The Tasting menu was filled with surprising taste sensations, childhood memories, inspiring food, and great wine pairings which made this evening a food memory for life.
We have the full review of Sra Bua in Stories & Guides so read more there!
Great food can take you on a journey but great chefs can move you anywhere!
